What to do in a Zombie Apocalypse

From the Centers for Disease Control, advice about what to do when Marc Morano comes calling.

The rise of zombies in pop culture has given credence to the idea that a zombie apocalypse could happen. In such a scenario zombies would take over entire countries, roaming city streets eating anything living that got in their way. The proliferation of this idea has led many people to wonder “How do I prepare for a zombie apocalypse?”

The simple answer is 'become a zombie'. Although, first, get a helmet to protect your brain. Let's face it, who has the easiest life post-apocalypse - the survivors, starving and trapped behind their barricades, out of ammunition and basically just waiting to be a tasty snack, or your average zombie, free to shamble wherever they want and consume whatever they can lay their hands on?.

How does on distinguish between a "Zombie" and a member of the "Cult of Ignorance"? Or, is that a distinction without a difference?

No reference to the proper method of employing a shotgun in these circumstances (shoot them in the head! of course).

I am bitterly disappointed.

This is a very interesting question.
I highly advise to turn to experts on the subject. While not being peer reviewed, the book mentioned in the linked article will offer great insights into preparation for as well as identification and survival of the Zombie Apocalypse.

It offers a complete overview into specific questions and clears the fog of pop culture nonsense around some of the most asked ones (like: Is a chainsaw of any use in fighting zombies?).

The book is
"The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection from the Living Dead" by Max Brooks.

Essential!

I'm no expert (obviously) but, like the anonymous one calling himself Flin said, The Zombie Survival Guide, though fictional, is a good source for help. Also, Zombieland. The rules in this movie can help, e.g. Cardio, Know your way out and the Double Tap.

Also, don't let yourslf get bitten. eing one of 'Them' is hell. Just try living a makeshift zombie lifestyle (can't do stuff you'd normally do; must eat meat only, although as it is makeshift doesn't have to be human) for 1 day.
