An absolutely amazing story about how the Japanese constitution came to guarantee the rights of women. An example of why despair is not useful.

Both my sister and mother are Mills grads. "It's not a women's college without boys, it's a henhouse without cocks!". Top quality liberal arts college.

Hmmm. Given the parlous state of women in Japan nowadays, that sounds more like a handy warning of the worthlessness of fine words without action to back it up.
