Slouching toward Gomorrah

Tim Lambert has an update on the hours of electricity in Baghdad. The US State Department has decided to stop reporting on this. Eli thought it would be useful to see when the lights will finally go out on the Iraqi disaster. The answer is not surprising.

What do you expect with the list of Einsteins we've had running things there?

Let's see, we've had Jay "Chance" Garner, Paul Bummer, Paul Woefulwitz, Donald Dumbsfeld, George Untenable and now Ryan Crocker (and yes, that's his real name) as U.S. ambassador to Iraq.

They're all crockers as far as I can see.

I'd like to see a graph of the total number of competent people in our government over the same period.

I'd be willing to bet there is a one to one correspondence and that it will reach zero at the same time as the lights go out (barring the exceedingly unlikely event of an impeachment of everyone in the White House and the self-impeachment by Nancy Pelosi and the rest of Congress).

Hah. The ratio of Competent to Non-Competent people in the administration reached 0 long ago. There is however a lag between the results of incompetency and the departure of people who know how to do things.

I'm pretty this ratio looks like a step function, by the way.

Thank Darwin that evolution does not work like job promotion within the Bush administration.

If it did, we'd all be slime mold.

You've heard of King Midas, right?

Bush is King Detritus.

Everything he touches turns to crap.
