High Phrase, or Leave No One Unpunished
Sometimes, like Eli, Willard is obscure and can’t resist amusing himself while confusing his readers. I wish they’d both tone that down a bit. Sometimes, also like Eli, he is astonishingly and idiosyncratically funny. - Victor

Yes, clicking on "Victor" leads to the source.
One can read elsewhere on MT's blog why he's named Victor.
I could be less obscure, but that would be less amusing.
So I must concede that MT's judgement has some truth to it.
Willard, obscurity is a teaching tool:)
I know at least a couple times when a prof deliberately left me asking myself what it was that they were alluding to and I kept thinking and digging until I figured it out even if it took weeks or months to do so. But usually I just find it annoying.
I'm never quite sure with Willard where the 'teaching' stops and the 'field research' begins. ;)
Victor, we live in an idiosyncracy. Get with the program.
