Does He or Don't He

No Drama Obama is, by nature and training, cool, not hot.  He is careful in what he says, extremely careful and certainly needs an interpreter to reach beyond the placid surface.  He needs his anger translator, Luther, to translate.  Sometimes

The framing as humor allows Obama to say something serious.  The look at the end?  Think Jack Benny

  1. As a Key and Peele fan, I was floored when this actually happened.

That said, I don't think it was one of the funnier Luther bits. Didn't have enough bite until the very end when the roles reversed.

  2. Agreeing with Kyle. Luther's jokes were okay but not great. But it was a good setup for the punchline. And Obama was great on the slow burn rising to absolute indignation. As a friend of many professional performers, I say kudos to him on that.

  3. I wish we'd seen Luther stay on message, as Obama built slowly closer and closer to full intensity --- and end with them both saying exactly the same words that Obama did toward the end there.

He wasn't joking. We know that.

  4. Nice to see that Obama gets the joke even when he is the joke.
