I had believed for years that Gregory Hines was the son of legendary jazz pianist Earl"Fatha" Hines. But some poking around on the Internet did not uncover any support for this idea. So maybe not.

Hines has quite the elaborate headstone at the Ukrainian orthodox cemetery here in Oakville, Ontario.

No relation to Earl. The brothers were child prodigies and pushed by a stage father who eventually joined the kids in the act: Hines, Hines, and Dad.
