Under aerobic conditions the CH4 would be oxidized on it's way back to the surface. However, remember, there was so much algae, that the decay of the algae consumed all the O2 in the water column. Thus, there is no O2 to oxidized the CH4 as it rises through the water.

The concept would only work during periods of rapid permafrost formation or rapid sedimentation - and the sedimentation has to occur when and where the algae are being deposited.

This is a project that we would have to get 95% right on a very large scale, in order to make things better rather than worse.Aaronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05150805906414546377noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16612221.post-85587279316321215572012-07-22T05:02:41.291-04:002012-07-22T05:02:41.291-04:00May have inherites sme major league steroid stockp...May have inherites sme major league steroid stockpiles<THE CLIMATE WARShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02578106673226403151noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16612221.post-37449044445380722902012-07-22T04:57:40.078-04:002012-07-22T04:57:40.078-04:00The wepbage portraits of some TV weathermen sugges...The wepbage portraits of some TV weathermen suggest theyTHE CLIMATE WARShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02578106673226403151noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16612221.post-24260322226589322392012-07-22T02:42:48.563-04:002012-07-22T02:42:48.563-04:00I had a sports-mad neighbour once who didn't b...I had a sports-mad neighbour once who didn't believe in climate change.
